What we do


Fertility Education Australia (FEA) delivers a wide range of services.

Natural Family Planning Services

  • Provide 'client-focused' services in fertility awareness which empower couples to achieve or avoid pregnancy through effective, natural, device free, drug free and non-interventionist methods of family planning. 
  • Provide target specific services to disadvantaged population sub-groups.

Professional Standards

  • Maintain best practice in professional competencies through rigorous teacher training programs and an ongoing process of reaccreditation.
  • Continual upgrading of training programs based on reviewing contemporary scientific studies.

Health Professionals

  • Educate medical practitioners and other health professionals in natural family planning as an effective and natural alternative method of family planning.
  • Promote the inclusion of NFP in undergraduate and post graduate training of medical practitioners.

Community Education

  • Provide quality values-based education programs in sexual and reproductive health to schools and community groups.
  • Provide modules in sexuality and family planning in marriage education programs.
  • Provide education programs to ante/post natal and community groups on fertility awareness and sexual and reproductive health.

Promotion of Natural family planning

  • Increase professional awareness of NFP as a viable natural alternative in family planning.
  • Create community awareness of NFP as an effective, environmentally responsible, drug-free option in fertility control.

Information Management

  • Collect statistical data for Commonwealth Government
  • Improve service delivery by evidence-based decision-making.


What you can expect as part of our service

We are committed to providing you with excellent standards of service in natural family planning. The partnership of you and your partner, and, the fully trained NFP educator is important to us. We believe that you are entitled to expect:

  • natural family planning services that are effective, non-interventionist and evidence-based.
  • education programs which are informative and meet the learning objectives of school, health and community groups
  • services provided by highly skilled staff
  • services which are accessible, and to have those services delivered in a clean, safe and appropriate environment
  • service delivery without discrimination on basis of age, disability, gender, religion, cultural or financial status
  • the information you need to make informed decisions about your fertility - the benefits and limitations of the service and any additional help that our staff feel you may need outside the centre - and how it access it
  • your confidentiality will be respected. Your records are accessed by your NFP educator only. Any disclosure to other persons requires your permission. All statistical data that is recorded and used for reporting purposes carries no means of personal identification
  • all client records are kept secure. You may apply to view and access files and other records that refer to you and your care. A written request may be lodged initially with the NFP agency where the service was provided
  • you will be treated with dignity and respect; and consultations will take place in surroundings that provide privacy and security. No trainee, student or other person will be in attendance during your consultation without your prior consent.

Who provides our services


Who provides our services

Our NFP instruction is provided by a team of fully trained and accredited staff. Sympto-Thermal Method Educators are trained and accredited by the Australian Council of Natural Family Planning Incorporated.


All Sympto-Thermal Method Natural Family Planning Educators are subject to an ongoing process of supervision, assessment and reaccreditation.


Education programs are provided by personnel with specialist expertise, and are engaged by the local service provider.

NFP clients are couples in the community who want a method of family planning which is natural, healthy and has efficacy rates comparable with hormonal and/or barrier methods of fertility control


Our services are used by a range of people working in the areas of Reproductive Health and Fertility, and, individuals interested in providing natural alternatives in primary healthcare.


Education programs are provided to school, professional and community groups.

How we can help you...

We will be responsive to your needs by:

  • encouraging you to participate in decisions about your fertility
  • ensuring you have a clear understanding of our NFP instruction, and if not, by providing opportunities for clarification
  • providing instruction in a way you can understand advising you of your right to refuse or discontinue your service at any time/or be part of any research project
  • finding out what your needs are through individual and community surveys
  • providing flexible consultation hours for your convenience
  • welcoming and considering your suggestions for improving services

If you are not satisfied...

It helps to deal with problems as soon as they arise. If youu are unhappy with any part of your service you have a right to have any concerns, or criticisms of your care independently investigated and to receive a full and prompt reply.


You should discuss if firstly with the NFP educator who provided the service. If you still need help, talk or write to the manager of the centre where you received your service. If the issue remains unresolved to your satisfaction, contact the
